Client Spotlight: A Liberating Journey Back to Herself

When I first connected with this beautiful client, she told me she had always wanted to do a boudoir session — but never quite had the guts. A good friend of hers, who had shot with me before, introduced us, and she began following my work. When I reached out to invite her to one of my special event sessions, she was hesitant at first. But after we talked, she told me I made her feel at ease, and she decided to go for it.

Her “why” was deeply personal. She and her husband had separated after a short time together due to his struggles with addiction. They were preparing for divorce when he entered rehab — and through his journey to sobriety, they rediscovered their love for each other. She wanted to step outside her comfort zone and do something special for him, to reflect the work and love they were pouring back into their relationship.

Leading up to the session, her nerves were real. She told me she was so nervous, she felt sick to her stomach — and on the hour-and-a-half drive to the studio, she thought about turning around at nearly every exit. One of her biggest fears? Finding outfits she didn’t feel “disgusting” in. She’d never worn lingerie before and worried about how she would look.

But here’s where the magic happens: once we started shooting, the nerves began to melt away. She told me she was trembling at first, but soon, she felt like she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She said the energy I brought to the room gave her such confidence, she felt like a Victoria’s Secret model strutting a runway.

One of the moments that stood out most for her was when I showed her the very first image on the back of my camera. She almost cried (but held back so she wouldn’t mess up her makeup). Seeing that all her so-called “imperfections” were actually beautiful gave her a rush of emotion she had never felt before.

She described the team — myself, the makeup artist, and everyone involved — as “the greatest trifecta.” We laughed, we hyped her up, and we made the experience fun, empowering, and unforgettable. The biggest surprise? How much fun she had. She hasn’t stopped telling everyone who will listen about it, and she couldn’t believe how assertive and confident she became in front of the camera.

Even before seeing her final images, she told me the experience had already transformed the way she sees herself. It gave her a sense of self-love and confidence she believes every woman deserves. “In those moments,” she said, “it’s not about size or imperfections — you truly look at yourself and feel about yourself in a different way.”

Her most meaningful takeaway? That she is beautiful — just as she is. That her body tells a story. That she will no longer shame or talk down about herself.

This experience has completely shifted how she views her body and her self-worth. She now sees her body with respect and gratitude, recognizing that it has carried her through life and brought four incredible humans into the world. “My body is a superhero,” she said.

And she wants everyone to know: you are never too old for this. A proud mom of five and grandma of three (with one more on the way!), she’s already been recommending boudoir to friends, family, and anyone willing to listen. Her advice?

Do it! Don’t wait until you’ve lost the baby weight or toned up — do it now, as you are. You’ll see yourself in a whole new light.

When asked to describe her experience in one word, she chose liberating — because that day was not just about photos, but about freedom, self-love, and reclaiming her confidence.

She told me she wishes she’d done this sooner — but I have a feeling this won’t be her last time. 😉
