She came into the studio with a pretty special reason for booking a boudoir session. She was getting married and wanted to give her fiancé something unforgettable to open on their wedding morning. Sweet, right? But what she didn’t expect was that somewhere between hair and makeup, a mimosa, trying poses she had never imagined herself doing, and trusting me to guide her through the whole thing, she would end up giving herself a pretty incredible gift too.  Sometimes you don't realize how long you've been putting yourself last until you finally decide to do something that's just for you. That was exactly where this beautiful woman found herself when she decided to book her boudoir session. She had gotten so used to being everything for everyone else that she had forgotten what it felt like to do something simply because it made her feel good. She wanted to step outside of her comfort zone, reconnect with herself, and have a moment that wasn't about being someone's mom, partner, daughter, friend, or anything else. It was just about her. Sometimes the women who walk through my studio doors with the most nerves are the ones who end up surprising themselves the most. This beautiful mama came into her boudoir session nervous about being photographed, especially when it came to her body after having two kids. She wasn't sure she was ready to put herself in front of the camera. But she decided to do it anyway. And I'm so glad she did. From the beginning, I wanted her to know that there was absolutely nothing she needed to fix before stepping in front of my camera. She didn't need to lose weight, change her body, or become some different version of herself first. She just needed to see what I was already seeing. Client Spotlight: Just Take the Damn Pictures

Sometimes you don't need to wait for some big milestone to decide it's time to do something for yourself. Sometimes you just finally feel comfortable in your body and think, okay, I'm ready. Let's do this. That was this client's starting point. She had been thinking about taking the leap, she'd seen the women I've photographed, and she loved the images she was seeing. But there was still one thing holding her back. She was worried she was going to be awkward. Walking into the studio, she was nervous.  She had already done this twice before. So when she came back for her third session with me, she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. She knew we would laugh. She knew we would have fun. She knew she could trust me. But this time felt a little different. She had recently lost 80 pounds, something worth celebrating all on its own. But even after that huge accomplishment, she was still struggling with the way she saw her body.  People often think a boudoir session is something you do once. You check it off your bucket list, hang your favorite photo on the wall, tuck your album away, and that's that. But sometimes confidence isn't something you find once. Sometimes it's something you come back for when life tries to convince you that you've lost it.
