Client Spotlight: She Stopped Waiting and Started Slaying
Some women walk into the studio excited. Others walk in terrified.
She was nervous from the moment she arrived, and honestly, who could blame her? For years, she had spent so much energy trying to make herself smaller. Like so many women, she believed that if she could just lose the weight, then maybe she'd finally feel comfortable in her own skin.
After being diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, things started to make a little more sense. The struggle she had been carrying wasn't because she wasn't trying hard enough. It was simply the body she had been given. Instead of continuing to fight against it, she made a decision that changed everything.
She was going to learn to love it.
That decision led her to Boudoir by Kadee.
She admitted that one of her biggest fears before booking was that she wouldn't love her photos. She worried she wouldn't know how to pose or that she'd somehow be doing it "wrong." But after reading so many client stories and seeing women of every shape, size, and style looking absolutely incredible, she started believing maybe she could have that experience too. And honestly? She just wanted an excuse to play dress up.
When she arrived at the studio, those nerves were very real. But as we chatted, laughed, and I did what I do best >> bossed her around through every pose << something started to change. The confidence she walked in without slowly began to replace the fear she had carried for years.
The gorgeous hair and makeup certainly didn't hurt either. She laughed afterward that she didn't even want to wash her hair when she got home because she loved it so much.
One of the biggest surprises for her wasn't how the photos turned out.
It was how safe she felt.
She shared that she'd never really let anyone see her body with the lights on before. Being that vulnerable can feel impossible. But she said the atmosphere in the studio made her feel like she could be both sexy and completely safe without ever feeling judged. That is something I never take for granted because creating that environment is every bit as important as creating beautiful photographs.
One of the first sets we photographed was the swing.
Ironically, it was also the one she feared the most.
Instead of saving it for later, she decided to face it head on. Looking at herself in the mirror while posing there became a turning point. She realized there was a side of herself she had never seen before.
A sexy side.
A confident side.
A side that had been there all along, just waiting for someone to help her see it.
By the end of her session, the nervous woman who had walked through my studio doors was gone. In her place stood someone who felt like an absolute badass.
One of my favorite parts of her story is that her favorite moment actually came after the session. Sitting together during her ordering appointment, looking through her images, celebrating every single one, talking about life, and letting me be her biggest hype woman became one of the highlights of the entire experience.
Before we wrapped up, I asked what she would say to another woman who keeps telling herself she'll book "after I lose the weight."
Her answer couldn't have been more perfect.
"No you don't. And if that's the case, why not do it now and then do another one after you reach your goal? I'm on a weight loss journey too, and now I can't wait to come back again. What an amazing way to see how far you've come while also realizing you've always been a badass."
That might be one of the biggest lessons boudoir has to offer.
You don't have to wait until you become someone else.
You deserve to celebrate who you are today.
And someday, when you look back at these photos, I hope you'll see what she discovered that day in the studio.
You've been beautiful all along.
