Client Spotlight: 80 Pounds Later...
She had already done this twice before.
So when she came back for her third session with me, she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. She knew we would laugh. She knew we would have fun. She knew she could trust me.
But this time felt a little different.
She had recently lost 80 pounds, something worth celebrating all on its own. But even after that huge accomplishment, she was still struggling with the way she saw her body. Her stomach was still the thing she was most self-conscious about, and losing the weight hadn't magically made those insecurities disappear.
She decided it was time to do something for herself again.
Walking into the studio that day, she was nervous. Not because she didn't trust me, but because she wondered how I could possibly photograph the things she saw as imperfections.
"I feel like there is no way she can hide the imperfections I see on my body."
And then we started shooting.
One of her favorite parts of coming back is that we always have so much fun. We talk about poses, try things, laugh our way through the session, and somehow the nerves start to disappear.
Then comes the moment she knows so well.
I turn the camera around and show her what I'm seeing.
And every single time, she is surprised.
The stomach she was worried about? Suddenly it doesn't look like the thing she thought everyone would notice.
Instead, she sees herself looking beautiful. Sexy. Confident.
"As soon as I see the back of the camera and see the magic Kadee has done, I feel so much better about myself."
That's one of my favorite things about what we do.
Not because I can magically change someone's body. I can't.
But because sometimes you need someone else to show you what you've been unable to see for yourself.
She loves the relaxed atmosphere of the studio, the different sets, and especially the process of deciding what we're going to do together. But her favorite part is seeing the final images and realizing that the woman in them is so much more beautiful than the version of herself she had been criticizing in her head.
And after three sessions, she has some pretty simple advice for the woman sitting at home thinking she needs to lose weight, change her body, or fix something before she can do this.
Stop hesitating. Do it.
"Don't worry about what you look like. Just take the pictures and see how beautiful and sexy you already are. You won't regret a moment of it."
Eighty pounds lost is an incredible accomplishment.
But learning to actually see yourself differently?
That might be the part worth celebrating most.
